In short: Rankologist is a free service to keep track of the games you played, rate them and discover your player profile. By using it, you accept these simple rules: a personal account, no abuse, and respect for other players. Who provides the service and how to contact us: see the section "Publisher and contact".
1. The service
Rankologist lets you keep a game library (statuses Playing, Completed, Dropped and Backlog), rate games, build tier lists, discover your player profile (Gamer DNA, archetype, badges) and see aggregated community statistics. There are no written reviews, no social feed and no messaging.
The service is free. If a paid offer is ever added, it will have separate terms, shown before any payment.
2. Acceptance and minimum age
By creating an account, you confirm that you have read these terms and the privacy policy and that you accept them. We record the version you accepted and the date. If the texts change significantly, we will ask you to accept them again to continue.
Rankologist is reserved for people aged 16 or older. If you are under 16, you cannot create an account.
3. Your account
- Give a valid email address that you can use: we send the sign-up confirmation and the password reset link to it.
- Your account is personal: do not share your access and choose a password you use nowhere else. You are responsible for what is done with your account until you report unauthorized access.
- Choose a username that respects others: no insults, no impersonation of another person or of us.
- You can delete your account at any time from the Account page; your data is then erased (see the privacy policy).
4. Rules of use
To keep the service pleasant and reliable for everyone, you agree not to:
- distort statistics and rankings: mass ratings without having played, several accounts to inflate or deflate a game, organized rating swaps;
- use bots, scripts or any automated means to extract data, create accounts or overload the service (scraping, brute force, spam);
- send friend requests in bulk, harass a member who blocked you or work around a block;
- bypass or test the service's protections (rate limits, restricted access, two-factor authentication) or try to access other players' data;
- impersonate someone else or use a misleading or offensive username;
- use the service to harass, threaten or deceive other people, or for any illegal activity;
- harm the operation of the service or the rights of others.
If you notice a problem (wrong game page, abusive behavior), report it with the "Report a problem" button on a game page or by email (see the section "Publisher and contact").
5. Your ratings and the statistics
Your ratings, tags and profile belong to you: they are your opinions. To make the service work, you grant us a free right, limited to the life of your account, to store them, display them according to your visibility settings and use them to compute aggregated, anonymous statistics (for example a game's average rating, shown only from a minimum number of players).
The detail of what other players and visitors can see is explained in the privacy policy. If you delete your account, your ratings disappear from the statistics.
6. Friends
You can send friend requests to other members and accept them; a friendship needs both people's agreement. Your friends see your profile (even if private) and your Overall rating on game pages, as explained in the privacy policy. You can remove a friend or block a member at any time; the blocked member is not told. You can also recommend a game from your library to your friends: they see your current rating if you rated it, with no free-text message.
To limit abuse, the number of requests, recommendations, friends and blocks is limited. We may delete requests or suspend an account in case of abuse (see "Suspension and deletion of an account").
7. Intellectual property and third-party content
The code, design, characters, name and logo of Rankologist are protected: all rights reserved. You may use the service and share the images the app lets you create (profile card, tier list) for personal purposes; any other reproduction or reuse requires our agreement.
Game names, covers, descriptions and other game information come from IGDB (Twitch) and belong to their respective owners (publishers, studios, platforms). Their display here does not mean these companies support or endorse the service. Trademarks mentioned belong to their owners.
8. Gamer DNA, archetypes, badges and suggestions
These features are computed automatically from your ratings, for entertainment. They are estimates: their formulas and thresholds may change, and we do not guarantee their accuracy or that they fit you. They are not advice, a psychological test or a purchase recommendation.
9. Availability and changes to the service
Rankologist is provided by one person and may still be in a test (beta) phase. We do our best to keep it running, but we do not guarantee continuous availability: the service may be interrupted for maintenance, go down or depend on a provider (hosting, game catalog). We may change, modify or withdraw it, giving reasonable notice when possible. Remember to download your data from the Account page if it matters to you.
10. Suspension and deletion of an account
If you do not respect these terms, we may warn, restrict, suspend or delete your account, telling you why when possible, unless this puts us at risk or the law forbids it. You can write to us to contest a decision. An account whose email address is never confirmed is deleted automatically after 7 days.
11. Liability
The service is free and provided "as is". To the extent permitted by applicable law, we exclude liability for indirect or consequential damages (loss of data, profits or opportunities) related to the use or unavailability of the service. We are not responsible for the content and availability of third-party services (host, game catalog, social networks where you might share an image).
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for intent or gross negligence, for injury to life, body or health, or the rights that the law gives you mandatorily, in particular as a consumer.
12. Personal data
The processing of your data is described in the privacy policy, which is part of these terms.
13. Changes to the terms
We may change these terms, for example if the service or the law changes. The version date appears at the top of the page. For an important change, we will tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect, and we will ask you to accept it to keep using the service. If you refuse, you can download your data and delete your account. The French version is binding; the English version is its translation.
14. Governing law and jurisdiction
These terms are governed by Swiss law, excluding its conflict-of-laws rules. The exclusive place of jurisdiction is Geneva (Switzerland), subject to mandatory jurisdiction rules applicable to consumers: if you are a consumer, you keep the right to bring proceedings before the courts of your place of residence where the law provides for it, and the mandatory consumer-protection provisions of the country where you live remain applicable.
15. Publisher and contact
Rankologist (Felipe Saenz, private individual) is published in Genève (Switzerland). Single point of contact: hello@rankologist.app. More information on the Contact page.
